OnAir was formed in 2005, as a joint venture between SITA (www.sita.aero), a leading provider of IT solutions and communications services to the air transport industry, and Airbus (www.airbus.com), one of the world's leading aircraft manufacturers.

Airbus, responsible for the engineering and manufacture of the OnAir equipment, manages equipment and airworthiness certification, which guarantees the safety of the onboard equipment. Certification is only awarded after extensive testing proves that the equipment does not interfere with aircraft avionics systems. Airbus has received certification from the EASA among others, which is recognised by regulators worldwide and complies with the most stringent industry requirements.

This support makes OnAir the only aviation industry-sponsored inflight connectivity solution currently on the market.

Today, OnAir has over 30 announced customers worldwide, on four continents, including British Airways, Egypt Air, Oman Air, Qatar Airways, Royal Jordanian, TAP Portugal and Wataniya Airways and, currently in operation. Working closely with our airline partners we deliver the right services to airline target markets, from mobile telephony to web services, via certified onboard equipment.
